While former FBI Director James Comey has yet to release a public statement since he was fired by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, a statement sent to his former colleagues suggests he's absolutely devastated by his unexpected termination.

First obtained by CNN, Comey's letter details his belief that "a President can fire an FBI Director for any reason, or for no reason at all," and that therefore, he would not waste time dwelling on why he was let go. He then spoke at length about his pride in his former organization, and how brokenhearted he was to be leaving.

7. Comey had to correct testimony he gave about Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner.

8. Comey was "a showboat."-"He's a showboat," Trump told NBC News of Comey on Thursday.

9. Comey was "a grandstander."-"He's a grandstander," the president continued to NBC News.

10. The FBI is "in turmoil."-"The FBI has been in turmoil," Trump told NBC. "You know that, I know that. Everybody knows that. You take a look at the FBI a year ago, it was in virtual turmoil, less than a year ago. It hasn't recovered from that."
